March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month
Colorectal cancer is one of
the most commonly diagnosed cancers in the United States.
When diagnosed early, 90% of colorectal cancers are curable. Getting
a colonoscopy can reduce the average person’s risk of dying
from colon cancer by 90%. Men and women of average risk should start
screening for colon cancer at age 50. 75%
of the people who develop colon cancer are over the age of 50 with
no identifiable risk factors. High-risk
persons should start screening for colon cancer early. Ask your
physician for your risk level.
